Berlin The federal government is considering the nationalization of the second major German gas importer: Nach Uniper the federal government could soon also take over Sefe. Sefe, more precisely: Sefe Securing Energy for Europe GmbH, based in Berlin, traded as Gazprom Germania until June. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it was placed under the trusteeship of the Federal Network Agency placed to ensure security of supply in Germany to ensure with gas.
But trusteeship is not seen as a permanent solution in government circles. It serves its purpose, but is not stable in the long term. Nevertheless, nationalization is not as easy to implement as in the case Uniper. "From a purely operational and economic point of view, full nationalization - including ownership - makes sense at Sefe," government circles said.
