Kamala Harris is traveling to Japan next week. There, the deputy of US President Biden will hold various talks, but will also take part in a funeral ceremony.

US Vice President Kamala Harris travels to Japan and South Korea next week.

Harris will attend a state funeral in Tokyo for Japan's murdered ex-Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, but also hold political talks, as a high-ranking government official announced on Friday. The office of US President Joe Biden's deputy had already announced the travel plans at the beginning of September, and the details have now followed.

Accordingly, on Monday Harris will be in Tokyo first meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Meetings with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo, both of whom are also arriving for Abe's funeral service, are scheduled to take place in the Japanese capital on Tuesday. The state ceremony for the former Japanese prime minister, who was assassinated in early July, is scheduled for Tuesday.

Harris plans to meet with Japanese business leaders and visit a military base in Yokosuka on Wednesday. Finally, on Thursday, Harris will continue to travel South Koreawhere she wants to meet the President, Yoon Suk Yeol, among others.

biden had himself flown to Japan and South Korea in May. The two states are the most important US allies in Asia.
