Former US President Donald Trump and his attorney have been fined nearly $1 million for filing a “frivolous” lawsuit against Democrat Hillary Clinton, among others. That was decided by Donald Middlebrooks, a district judge in a court in the US state of Florida, on Thursday (local time). Trump and his lawyers filed the lawsuit solely for political purposes and thus abused the judiciary, the judge said in his verdict. The resources of the judiciary are needed for people who have actually been wronged, Middlebrooks said. The fine totaling almost $938,000 (almost 870,000 euros) was won by the people sued by Trump to cover their legal fees.
