Alongside other music stars, Ed Sheeran and Camila Cabello raise around £11 million at a benefit concert for Ukraine.

The British music star Ed Sheeran and the US singer Camila Cabello caused a stir with a joint performance at a benefit concert in aid of the victims of the Ukraine war.

The two presented their hit “Bam Bam” at the “Concert For Ukraine” in Birmingham, England on Tuesday evening, which they sang live together for the first time. Sheeran also performed his solo hits “Perfect” and “Bad Habits,” Cabello sang a cover version of the Coldplay song «Fix You».

In addition to the two musicians, numerous others performed in Birmingham stars from the UK and international music scene to raise funds including Tom Odell, Emeli Sandé, the Manic Street Preachers, Snow Patrol, jazz singer Gregory Porter and Nile Rogers & Chic. The show, which was broadcast live on British television, was moderated by “Spice Girl” Emma Bunton, among others.

Between the performances reports and videos from the Ukraine shown. Actors Tamsin Greig and Eddie Marsan provided poignant eyewitness accounts.

The donations, proceeds from concert tickets and advertising income from the TV broadcast go to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), which takes care of millions of Ukrainians who have had to flee their country. According to the presenter Bunton around 11 million pounds sterling (approx. 13 million euros) were collected during the evening.
