It’s not every day that you have a chat with a princess about spitting. Sunnyi Melles sits on the edge of a sofa in a luxury hotel in Hamburg, keeps adjusting her rather short black dress and actually just wants to talk about her new film, how fulfilling the work was with the Swedish director Ruben Östlund: “I felt like I had been newly baptized .”

But the conversation with the Swiss actress almost inevitably always comes back to a scene about spitting.
