Trial against youth coach of SV Wehen Wiesbaden for sexual abuse has begun

According to the investigation, the former youth football coach, who last worked at the third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden has been pressuring his charges and other boys since 2014 and using his position of trust to satisfy his sexual needs.

SV Wehen Wiesbaden fired him without notice after the suspicion became known at the end of 2021. According to reports, B. has worked for several clubs in the Rhine-Main region over the past almost 20 years, as well as being a selection coach for the Hessian Football Association. He is said to have the "Youth Elite License" of the German Football Association. The case is one of the most serious of its kind in the German sports scene.

Almost a dozen victims so far

Sven B., a stocky man with a friendly face, came into the courtroom in handcuffs on Friday at the start of the trial before a juvenile chamber of the Frankfurt district court. His three defense attorneys shielded him with file folders so he could not be filmed or photographed. He seemed concentrated and spoke relatively relaxed with his lawyers. Some of the parents of his alleged victims, who are joint plaintiffs in the process, sat diagonally across from him.

Almost a dozen victims have reported to the police and the public prosecutor's office. After one of the boys reported the incidents, B., who lived in the Main-Taunus district, was arrested in December 2021. Since then he has been in custody. According to the indictment, pictures and videos of the crime were found on his cell phone. Several computers and many hard drives with relevant material are said to have been secured in his apartment.
