‘Tiger King’ Joe Exotic has given an interview from prison in which he claims the Netflix series “ruined his life”.
The Netflix documentary “Tiger King: Big Cats and their Predators”, which premiered in March 2020, is about Joe exotic (60), who ran a private zoo with big cats in the USA, and his feud with the intransigent animal activist Carole Baskin (61). Exotic has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for allegedly hiring two men to kill his nemesis. In an appeal process, he was again sentenced to more than 20 years in prison. A second season of “Tiger King” was released in November 2021.
He sees himself as an innocent victim
The incarcerated “Tiger King” star has now explained in an interview with “TMZ” from prison that the Netflixformat “ruined” his life and, according to the US celebrity portal, is “the worst” thing that has ever happened to him because it led the public to believe he was trying to kill Carole Baskin.
In 2016 and 2017 he “shot a little tiger show” and all the content he filmed at the zoo was created for this project. “Then Netflix and [Serien-Co-Regisseur] Eric Goode all this into a conspiracy. Everything they filmed after 2018, when I was arrested, was prepared and we have evidence that they were all paid to say what they said.” According to Exotic, everything was done to increase TV ratings and he claims he is the innocent victim of this plot.
Joseph Maldonado-Passage, his real name, is serving his sentence in federal prison in Fort Worth, Texas. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in November 2021. He still hopes to be released from prison, he said now “TMZ“, adding that he’s looking to tie the knot with his fiancé, Seth Posey.
