Berlin The federal government wants to reorganize Germany’s relations with China. “China is changing – our dealings with China must also change,” says a first draft of the China strategy, which the ministries have been discussing since the beginning of November. The 59-page draft is available to the Handelsblatt. The “Spiegel” had previously reported about it.
The strategy is currently divided into three pillars: “Relationships with China”, “Strengthening Germany and the EU” and “Diversification of our economic and political partnerships”. The paper takes a sober look at German-Chinese relations.
For several years, it says, the exchange with China has not developed further, but rather backwards. China’s isolation has led to a “growing asymmetry” in relations.
