The 10 largest companies in the world in the ranking 2022

Dusseldorf It used to be the industrial groups, today tech companies, banks or oil empires lead the global market. The US magazine "Forbes" compares these corporate giants according to sales, profits, assets and market values. Every year, this results in a ranking of the largest companies in the world – “The Global 2000”.

The 2022 ranking paints a clear picture. Because despite the challenges posed by the corona pandemic, the world's largest public companies managed to significantly increase their sales and profits again last year. In the analysis period from April 2021 to April 2022, the companies listed in the Global 2000 generated sales of 47.6 trillion US dollars and profits of around five trillion US dollars. There was also a lot of movement within the top 10 compared to the previous year's ranking.

About the methodology: First, the study authors create four separate lists of the 2000 largest companies - each sorted according to sales, profit, assets and market value. For each metric, corporations receive a separate score based on their ranking. Finally, all collected points are added with identical weighting. The result: the largest companies in the world.
