Wimbledon semi-finalist Tatyana Maria missed the final of the tennis tournament in Seoul. The 35-year-old clearly lost in the semifinals to number two seeded Russian Yekaterina Alexandrova 2: 6, 4: 6. Maria was beaten after 69 minutes in the South Korean capital.

Nevertheless, she will replace Angelique Kerber as German number one in the coming week. Kerber is currently pausing because she is expecting her first child in the spring of next year. Alexandrova meets Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia in Sunday’s final, who finished second semifinals benefited from an injury to Britain’s Emma Raducanu.
