Sven Ulreich extends his contract with FC Bayern
FC Bayern announced on Friday evening that Sven Ulreich has extended his contract.
Sven Ulrich has also proven to be a confident back-up for Manuel Neuer this season. That’s why the 34-year-old goalkeeper has now been rewarded with a new contract until 2024. His previous working paper ran until 2023.
“This contract extension expresses the sporting importance that Sven has for our team. He was and is always a support when he is needed, even in the dressing room,” explained sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic on the contract extension. “It’s also important for us that he’s been doing very well in our goalkeepers’ training group for years Manuel Neuer is matched. Both support each other and we need that in this important position. I look forward to continuing to work together.”
Ulreich himself explained the following about his new contract: “I am very happy to continue with FC Bayern to stay. The cooperation with the whole team and especially with Manuel Neuer has grown into something special over many years, we are perfectly coordinated and I really enjoy my job. FC Bayern know that I’m always there when you need me. The goal is to win more titles, that’s what we’re all here for, that’s what we give our all every day.”
This season, Ulreich has been allowed to play eight times, and he has kept five clean sheets. In total, he made 86 appearances in his six and a half years with Munich.
