123 yes votes and one no vote: Andreas Bovenschulte is the SPD’s top candidate for the 2023 state elections in Bremen.

The SPD in Bremen has mayor Andreas Bovenschulte with an overwhelming majority as the top candidate for the state election determined in May 2023. At a party convention, 99.2 percent of delegates voted for his nomination. According to the party, there were 123 yes votes and one no vote.

Bovenschulte (57) has led a coalition of since 2019 SPD, Greens and Left Party in the smallest federal state. The next election to the Bremen Parliament is scheduled for May 14 next year. Bovenschulte thanked for the vote of confidence. “Together we will rock this,” he said. At the same time, the Greens met in Bremen, who want to nominate the environment senator Maike Schaefer as the top candidate.
