Dhe former SPD chairman in Hesse, Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel, becomes the new board spokesman of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). As GIZ announced on Wednesday, its supervisory board unanimously appointed him to the post. Schäfer-Gümbel will take office on November 1, replacing Tanja Gönner, who is moving to the Federation of German Industries (BDI) as general manager.
