Germany and the Netherlands want the Ukraine attacked by Russia to start training soldiers at the Assist in mine detection, demining and booby trap removal. This was announced by Defense Ministers Christine Lambrecht (SPD) and Kajsa Ollongren on Thursday at the US military base in Ramstein, Rhineland-Palatinate.
The support will be provided in the explosive ordnance defense school in Stetten am Kalten Markt (Baden-Württemberg), said Lambrecht. She said: "We will not only provide the training, but also the material." Lambrecht emphasized that the explosive ordnance defense school is able to train around 20 Ukrainian soldiers.
Germany also supports Ukraine in other areas, such as the request for a so-called winter package, said Lambrecht. For example, Germany will supply material for power generation, tents and winter equipment. The Federal Minister of Defense also emphasized: "The cheetahs that have already been promised will be delivered soon, the second tranche of this support, and the Biber armored bridge-laying tanks will be delivered soon."
