Chancellor Olaf Scholz has offered Poland a speedy settlement in the dispute over a ring swap of arms, which is intended to balance Polish deliveries to Ukraine with replacements from Germany. Such an exchange has already been finalized with the Czech Republic, with others it is about to happen, said the SPD politician on Thursday before the federal press conference, the merger of the capital's journalists in Berlin. “Poland is also willing to say that we are happy to do it. And agreements like the ones we made with the Czech Republic, are striving for with Slovakia, and are making with Greece are also possible with Poland,” he emphasized.
Such a ring exchange of arms has not yet come about with Poland. The Polish government was not satisfied with the previous Berlin offer of 20 Leopard 2 tanks for delivery from 2023.
