Railway union – 400 overcrowded trains over Whit weekend

Berlin The railway union and the staff representatives of Deutsche Bahn drew a mixed balance after the Pentecost weekend with the 9-euro ticket. “As expected, the 9-euro campaign triggered a great rush on the regional trains, which led to significantly more cases of congestion nationwide,” said the Vice-Chairman of the General Works Council DB Regio, Ralf Damde, the editorial network Germany on Monday evening according to a preliminary report.
Nationwide, about 400 trains were overcrowded. Passengers were turned away, bicycles could not be taken. However, Damde praised the consideration and patience of most passengers. Assistance from the staff would have needed above all passengers who had not traveled by train for a long time and therefore did not know their way around.
The additional burdens would have led to overtime for the railway staff throughout Germany.
