She moderated “Zart am Limit” and talked to others about their own fathers. Now Laura Karasek is on TV with a quiz show. In doing so, she has fulfilled a dream, says the 40-year-old.

Laura Karasek follows in the footsteps of Jörg Pilawa and takes over the moderation of the “NDR Quizshow”. The 40-year-old will start with the new task this year, as the Norddeutsche Rundfunk announced on Friday in Hamburg. On December 28th, 10:30 p.m., she should go on the air with a big celebrity special.

“I am in love quiz shows, have always liked to take part as a candidate or simply guessed at home. It was always my big dream to host a quiz show myself,” said Karasek, according to the announcement. It is a great honor to be the host of this traditional show.

The “NDR Quiz show” is said to be the longest-serving quiz show in Germany alongside “Who wants to be a millionaire?” 22 years ago. It was the first regional quiz on German television. Before Karasek, the show was hosted by Ludger Abeln, Carlo von Tiedemann, Alexander Bommes and Jörg Pilawa moderated.

Pilawa had said goodbye to public television this year and is now presenting again on his old home broadcaster Sat.1. With the change of channel, the 57-year-old wanted to get “out of the comfort zone” again. According to Pilawa, the farewell was fair and appreciative. At the moment, on Sundays at 9.45 p.m., pre-recorded programs with Pilawa as moderator are still running on NDR.

Laura Karasek is the daughter of the literary critic Hellmuth Karasek (1934-2015). She spoke about her father in the Vox series 7 Daughters.
