Prantls Blick: The Corona state of emergency is over; the sigh of relief begins – politics
from
This column is about sighing. It is about breathing a sigh of relief after almost three years in the undeclared state of emergency. With the End of the corona mask requirement in local and long-distance transport a state of relief has been reached after the insanely long state of emergency. The face mask was the symbol of the state of emergency; Corona suffocated the infected. But protection from the virus also affected breathing. The collective expression for this was the breathing mask, a piece of cloth that makes breathing difficult, speech difficult, masks facial expressions and impedes communication. The face mask was textile infection prevention, its subtext was communication impediment. The mask not only stood for human responsibility to prevent infection as far as possible. It also stood for unsuccessful communication in everyday encounters, it stood for unsuccessful discussion in society, in politics and between the sciences.
