Perfect: Daniil Trifonov plays, Karina Canell conducts – culture

From

Helmut Mauro

It is an astonishingly virtuosic piece, but its technical difficulties must sound as casual as possible. Because the essence of Sergei Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto is more subtle, resulting in the complex interplay of different sound levels of piano and orchestra. For the prodigy pianist Daniil Trifonov, this is at the same time a personal artistic motto. For the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Karina Canellakis, it was not an easy task at the concert in Munich’s Isarphilharmonie. Different opinions collided about what constitutes the core of musical expression and drama, how precision and passion can be reconciled.
