“Only Murders in the Building” announces a prominent newcomer: Oscar winner Meryl Streep will play in the next season.
Hollywood star Meryl Streep (73) will soon be seen in the American comedy crime series “Only Murders in the Building”. The three-time Oscar winner will star in the third season of the Hulu show. Selena Gomez (30), one of the main actresses of the series, revealed the prominent newcomer on Tuesday in an Instagram post. It also stars Streep in a group photo with her co-stars.
Details of the actress’ role – and how extensive it could be – are apparently not known for the time being. In “Only Murders in the Building” alongside Gomez, Steve Martin (77) and Martin Short (72) are the stars of the series. Steve Martin also posted the black and white picture with Streep. It will be Streep’s first role in a TV series since starring in the second season of the HBO hit “Big Little Lies.”
Lots of stars on board
“Ant-Man” star Paul Rudd (53) – who had a cameo in the second season finale – and former “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams (41) are also in the new season of “Only Murders in the Building”. According to “The Hollywood Reporter” also include Tina Fey (52), Vanessa Aspillaga (50), Adina Verson, Ryan Broussard (33) and Andrea Martin (76) to the cast.
“Only Murders in the Building” was nominated for 17 Emmys after its first season, winning three (guest star Nathan Lane, production design and sound mixing honored). The transmitter hulu had also stated that the series was his highest-grossing original comedy.
