The memorial service for singer Olivia Newton-John will be held at Hamer Hall in the Arts Center Melbourne on February 26.

The official state memorial service for “Grease” star Olivia Newton-John (1948-2022) will take place on February 26, according to media reports. Fans can also say goodbye to the singer and actress, who died of cancer on August 8, 2022, at Hamer Hall in the Arts Center in Melbourne. The memorial service was organized with the star’s family, who accepted an offer from the government.

Newton-John’s niece, Tottie Goldsmith (59), said shortly after the entertainer’s death on the news program “A Current Affair”: “We will do it. Not only in the name of our family, but also in the name Australiathat she loved so much. I think our country needs it, so we’re going to embrace it,” Goldsmith said.

Australia says goodbye

On Sept. 21, Newton-John’s friends and family commemorated her at a smaller memorial service in Southern California, People reported. Her good friend John Travolta (68) also took part. Other friends from Down Under also traveled from Australia for the funeral service.

Newton-John enjoyed great success as a singer and actress from the 1970s onwards. Her international breakthrough came with the role of Sandy Olsson in the film “Grease”, in which she played lovers alongside John Travolta. Newton-John has won four Grammys in her long career and has been nominated for two Golden Globes and an Oscar.
