Northern Ireland Agreement is due in the next two weeks

London An agreement to settle the longstanding dispute between Great Britain and the European Union (EU) on post-Brexit trading rules in Northern Ireland is expected within the next two weeks, according to a newspaper report. The rough framework of the agreement is now clear and still has to be finally approved by the British government. This was reported by the Telegraph newspaper, citing people familiar with the matter.
The deal between the UK and the EU would mean that goods traveling from mainland Britain to Northern Ireland would no longer have to go through customs using a system of ‘red’ and ‘green’ routes.
According to the report, a new wording on the controversial role of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Northern Ireland is also expected. So he can ECJ only be used as a last resort in disputes between the UK and the EU.
