Neo-Nazis move from West to East Germany

DThe Brandenburg Office for the Protection of the Constitution warns of a movement of right-wing extremists from West Germany to the East German federal states. “We see a movement of right-wing extremists from the West to East Germany,” said the Brandenburg head of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution Jorg Mueller, the newspapers of the Funke media group on Wednesday. Neo-Nazis bought cheap real estate in the east of the country, held concerts there or founded new groups.
“We register that leading figures, for example in the right-wing extremist scene, have gone from the old federal states, for example from Bavaria, to Brandenburg or Saxony. In the scene, you see the East as a new ‘settlement area’,” said Müller. This is a dangerous trend, because there is often no strong civil society in the sparsely populated areas that could effectively oppose the right-wing extremists.
