A former guard at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp has appealed the sentence after being sentenced to five years in prison. A court spokeswoman said that the 101-year-old had one month after the written judgment was served to justify his appeal. Then the Federal Court of Justice would have to decide. The criminal chamber has until September 27 to draft the written judgment. Last Tuesday, the latter had sentenced the elderly defendant to five years in prison for being an accessory to the murder of more than 3,500 camp inmates. During the trial, the 101-year-old denied having ever worked in the concentration camp.
