Munich Kammerspiele: “Anti War Women” – Culture
It is impressive that a women’s peace congress took place in the middle of the First World War. But that doesn’t automatically make plays on the subject good, as “Anti War Women” at the Munich Kammerspiele shows.

In April 1915, in the middle of the First World War, around 1,500 women from 16 countries came together in The Hague. Women from countries fighting each other met, women from Belgium were there, from Austria, Italy, Denmark, Norway, the USA, Great Britain, Armenia. The congress was an initiative of the German women’s rights activists Anita Augspurg, Lida Gustava Heymann and the Dutch Aletta Jacobs. Questions of guilt were not allowed to be discussed, nor the current events of the war.
