Man killed by around 40 crocodiles in Cambodia
Rand 40 crocodiles have a man in Cambodia killed after falling into the animals’ enclosure. The 72-year-old wanted to move a crocodile out of the cage at his family’s farm where it had laid eggs, Siem Reap City Police Chief Mey Savry said on Friday. The animal grabbed the man’s goad and pulled him into the enclosure.
Other crocodiles then came and “attacked him until he was dead,” said Police Chief Savry. The animals would have shredded the man, his remains were traversed by bite marks. An arm of the 72-year-old was bitten off and devoured by the crocodiles.
There are several crocodile farms in the Siem Reap area. In 2019, a two-year-old girl was killed and eaten by crocodiles while walking around her family’s farm in the same community. The reptiles are kept for their skin, eggs and meat, and for the trade in young animals.
