Lower Saxony: choose in a depressed mood - politics

In the Lower Saxony state election campaign, everything is overlaid by the question of how politicians can best protect citizens and the economy from skyrocketing prices. And then there is the special political situation in the country.

It is an unusual statement for an economy minister who is hoping to soon become prime minister himself. "The situation for medium-sized companies is more than serious," says Bernd Althusmann (CDU) at a panel discussion of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Hanover, "many companies have their backs to the wall". Normally, Althusmann would now have to speak about how beneficial his work as Minister for Economic Affairs in Lower Saxony and why it would therefore be sensible to entrust him with the State Chancellery in the state elections on October 9th.
