The new chairman of the conference of health ministers, Baden-Württemberg’s department head Manne Lucha, is calling for the mask requirement in long-distance public transport to be lifted from February. “The aim should be for there to be as uniform rules as possible throughout Germany from February. If the mask requirement in local transport now falls, it should also fall in long-distance traffic at the same time,” said the Green politician to the newspapers of the Funke media group. Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) also spoke out on Wednesday evening in favor of ending the mask requirement in long-distance transport “as soon as possible”. The obligation currently applies until the beginning of April, Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) considers the discussion to be premature.
