Logistics – Adblue shortage in Germany – economy

Since stopping Adblue production at SKW last month, Germany has been struggling with an Adblue shortage. Truck drivers report that suppliers are cutting Adblue supplies, and industry groups say orders from some service stations are being reduced. Adblue is used to neutralize harmful emissions from diesel engines. Almost all trucks and heavy commercial vehicles run on diesel. Adblue prices have increased many times over the past year as the gas crisis has made production of ammonia, a feedstock for Adblue, unprofitable. SKW has now announced that it will resume production. However, federal aid is a condition, as a company spokesman told MDR. According to the company, it is Germany’s largest producer of ammonia and urea.
