Oldenburg Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) has promised cannabis legalization for the coming year. At a FDP- Event in the state election campaign in Lower Saxony Lindner said on Friday in Oldenburg to demonstrators who held up signs with hemp leaves and lettering such as "A bag with Christian Lindner" that they could look forward to legalization coming next year.

However, the federal drug commissioner Burkhard Blienert had said in July, it is unlikely that the cannabis legalization law will come into force before 2024. The traffic light coalition will present a draft for this at the end of this year or early next year. But there are still many questions to be clarified, the Federal Drug Commissioner emphasized in July.
