Lindner does not give basic child security priority – politics

Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner According to a media report, the FDP sees little scope for basic child security in the federal budget – which its coalition partners, the Greens, are demanding. “A lot has already happened for families with children,” said the FDP chairman picture on sunday. The child benefit has been increased to 250 euros, higher than it has been since 1996. Overall, seven billion euros more would be available for families and children per year, so the essentials for basic child security have been financially done, according to Lindner.

In addition, child poverty is often due to the parents’ unemployment, Lindner continued. That is why language support and the integration of parents into the labor market are crucial in order to improve the children’s chances. According to Linder, the redistribution of money will eventually reach its limits when it comes to fighting poverty.

As priorities for the 2024 budget instead of basic child security, Lindner named the renewal of the infrastructure of all modes of transport, the digitization of the state, the upgrading of the Bundeswehr, the strengthening of education and research and the modernization of trade, medium-sized companies and industry. For the year 2024, the Federal Minister of Finance expects record income of probably more than one trillion euros for the first time. Nevertheless, the money is not enough to finance the statutory obligations of the federal government. According to Lindner, this government must find the strength to save. At the moment, additional expenses are out of the question.
