Berlin The two left chairmen Janine Wissler and Martin Schirdewan have officially withdrawn from a speech by their comrade Sarah Wagenknecht distanced in the Bundestag. They also criticized the faction board, the Wagenknecht for the Debate on economic and energy policy had set up.

“In our view, MPs who speak for the parliamentary group must support the positions that have been decided the left represented,” said Wissler and Schirdewan on Friday of the daily newspaper “nd”. If Wagenknecht can't do that in good conscience, then someone else should talk, the party leaders said.

Wagenknecht had the federal government on Thursday facing Russia accused of "starting an unprecedented economic war against our most important energy supplier".

She called for an end to economic sanctions against Russia and negotiations on the supply of Russian energy Germany. In part, this does not correspond to the party's agreed positions and is causing resentment, explained Wissler and Schirdewan. That shouldn't be repeated.
