Knife attack in Jarmen: suspected perpetrator shot

BThe attacker was shot dead in a knife attack on a police officer in Jarmen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The officer attacked was seriously injured in the act on Friday evening and taken to a hospital, the police said.
According to information from the “Ostsee-Zeitung”, the police were called to a house in the city center at around 5:50 p.m. because the 32-year-old man was in an exceptional mental situation. When he met the three police officers, he attacked one of the officers with a knife and seriously injured the 47-year-old. One of the police officers then fired his service weapon to incapacitate the man. He died on the spot due to the severity of his gunshot wounds.
According to “Nordkurier” information, nothing is officially known about the state of health of the officer from the Anklam police station, he was taken to the Greifswald University Hospital for treatment. The Anklam Criminal Police Inspectorate has started the investigation.
