Kenya's newly elected President William Ruto has been sworn in. The country's chief justice took the oath from the 55-year-old on Tuesday in the capital, Nairobi. Ruto narrowly defeated longtime opposition leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. In 2010, Ruto was indicted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity. He was accused of being partly responsible for the violence that followed the 2007 elections. However, the proceedings were discontinued.
