Justice – lay judges loyal to the constitution – politics

Federal Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann (FDP) wants to make constitutional loyalty a prerequisite for appointment to a jury office. “Under no circumstances should we allow extremists to administer justice in our country,” said Buschmann in Berlin on Wednesday. He presented a draft for an amendment to the Judges Act in order to enshrine in law the obligation of honorary judges to comply with the constitution. It should also regulate that lay judges who do not meet this requirement can be dismissed.
