Danny Trejo is one of Hollywood's most iconic villains and most-killed man. In the interview he talks about his early drug use, years in prison and an unexpected call from Robert De Niro.

Dthis face. As a moviegoer or TV viewer, you've probably seen it before, and then you probably haven't forgotten it. Danny Trejo is what you would call a character head, his lined face testifying to life outside of the comfort zone. As a rule, someone like that does not play the upright hero who is allowed to kiss the beautiful woman in the end, but causes horror and eventually finds a correspondingly creepy ending.

Editor in the “Life” section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sunday newspaper.

Trejo was actually once as dangerous as in most of his roles. Robberies, violent and drug-related offenses ensured that the American of Mexican descent spent most of the 1960s in California jails. Today Trejo is cleansed, works alongside acting as a drug counselor and has written his memoirs, which have just been published in German. “Trejo – My life. Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood” is a hard-hitting, unsentimental, and moving autobiography. When Danny Trejo joins the video call, he's wearing a beanie advertising the beer that bears his name over his distinctive face; Today he is also a restaurateur with several restaurants.
