Indian court rejects appeal in antitrust proceedings

Among other things, the procedure dealt with the question of whether the group may dictate to mobile phone manufacturers which apps are preinstalled.

New Delhi A court has the objection of Google against a fine by the Indian antitrust authority CCI on Wednesday.
This had the daughter of the Internet company alphabet fined $161 million for abusing its dominant position in the Android smartphone operating system. In addition, Google is no longer allowed to dictate to mobile phone manufacturers which apps are pre-installed.
The company had justified the objection, among other things, with the fact that the CCI had adopted a similar decision of the EU almost one-to-one in the process, without checking whether the basis for this was also in India apply.
India, which will soon officially be the most populous country in the world, is an interesting growth market for Google and other Silicon Valley companies. Android phones are very popular in India.
