Berlin In the Bundestag debate on Wednesday morning, it was the scorn of the opposition leader who complained about the Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck poured out Habeck, CDU leader Friedrich Merz scoffed, appeared “helpless”. The minister’s conclusions, the head of the Eon subsidiary Preussen Elektra informed Secretary of State for Energy Patrick Graichen in a letter, are not technically feasible.

That was more to the substance than a blasphemous opposition leader. And so Robert Habeck, the shooting star of the traffic light cabinet for months, finds himself in an unusual role: he has to defend himself and his politics. On top of that, there was an unfortunate television appearance on Tuesday evening.
