The AfD parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament has lost two members. MPs Walter Knowledge Bach and Rainer Rahn announced their departure from the AfD on Thursday and Friday. Both announced that they wanted to continue as non-attached MPs. The state parliament AfD shrinks to 15 members. “In large parts of the party, the ideology of fact-based politics now dominates – not least recognizable by the examples of the corona pandemic and the Ukraine conflict,” Rahn justified his step. Wissenbach explained that the AfD had “developed into a pension fund for people who were in financial difficulties and were unfit for normal employment outside the party”.
