London Great Britain does he want Ukraine Provide Challenger 2 battle tanks to defend against Russian war of aggression. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said so in a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, as the British seat of government Downing Street announced on Saturday in London.
“The Prime Minister outlined Britain’s intention to step up our support to Ukraine, including the deployment of Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems,” a Downing Street spokesman was quoted as saying. Sunak and Zelenski welcomed other similar announcements, including Poland’s offer to provide Leopard tanks for a company – that would typically be 14.
Tanks are considered important for recapturing occupied territories. So far, Ukraine has only received Soviet-made main battle tanks, while those in Eastern Europe Nato-Countries were.
Ukraine has long been demanding the delivery of the German Leopard II, which is technically superior to Russian tanks. The federal government has so far rejected this step, pointing out that other allies have not given Ukraine any modern battle tanks either. Behind this was the fear that Nato could be drawn into the war in Ukraine.

With London’s announcement, the arguments of the federal government are likely to be even more difficult to maintain. It recently decided to deliver Marder armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. Zelenski thanked Sunak for his support via Twitter and emphasized that the decision will “send the right signal to other partners”.
Russia more than ten months after the start of the invasion, including Crimea, which was annexed in 2014, occupies a good 18 percent of Ukrainian territory. Ukraine is almost completely dependent on Western arms supplies. In addition to light weapons and ammunition, Berlin has already delivered heavy self-propelled howitzers and anti-aircraft systems. In addition, the delivery of 40 Marders armored personnel carriers was promised.
