Great Britain wants to hand over “Challenger” main battle tanks to Kyiv – politics

Great Britain wants Ukraine type main battle tank challengers 2 to ward off the Russian war of aggression. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said in a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday.

A British government spokesman said this week that the Ukrainian government had “made it very clear” what help it would like from the western states in the war against Russia, “and that includes tanks”. The conversation was then about ten tanks of the type challenger 2 to make it available, the specific discussions on this have apparently been going on in Westminster for a few weeks.

Last year the UK had 14 Challenger-2-Tanks delivered to Poland. About 450 of the war machines, weighing more than 62 tons, are said to have been built in factories in Newcastle and Leeds since the mid-1990s. The exact construction is secret, but the challenger 2 is considered to be a similarly modern vehicle as the German one leopard 2. Its outer hull is said to be strong enough to withstand hits from Russian tanks.
