German cyber defense authority gets new boss – politics
Mathematician Claudia Plattner is moving from the European Central Bank to the Federal Office for Information Security. She succeeds Arne Schönbohm, who had to leave because of controversial contacts.
The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) gets a new boss: The mathematician Claudia Plattner will lead the authority in the future – that’s what she found out Southgerman newspaper from government circles. She will be the first woman to hold the post. Plattner previously worked at the European Central Bank as Director General for Information Systems.
She follows with that Arne Schoenbohm according to which Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD) fired in the autumn. The background was allegations that the BSI boss was too close to a controversial club. According to a report by the television entertainer Jan Böhmermann, Schönbohm was given leave and later head of the Federal Academy for Public Administration.
