FC Bayern Munich – Sepp Maier supports Neuer – Sport

In the fuss surrounding Manuel Neuer’s criticism of FC Bayern, former national goalkeeper coach Sepp Maier, 78, sided with the goalkeeper. This is the captain of Bayern and can speak his mind, especially since the dismissed goalkeeper coach Toni Tapalovic is Neuer’s friend, Maier said at Sport 1: “Of course I’m on Manu’s side. I used to be a goalkeeper, and from So Manu is more important to me. I also know him and Tapalovic well.” The separation from Tapalovic was “wrong”, according to the 1974 world champion. Neuer, who was out until the end of the season due to a skiing accident, described Tapalovic’s dismissal as a “serious blow” in a detailed SZ interview at the weekend. “Manu has saved Bayern so many games and always put in top performances, so he can show his disappointment. That’s human,” says Maier.
After Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern President Herbert Hainer also criticized Neuer’s approach: “It was incomprehensible to us and also disappointing,” said the 68-year-old, and “I’m even more disappointed than angry.” A premature termination of the contract as a result of the interview is “not at all” up for debate.
