factory farming? Not in Switzerland - politics

The matter is clear for Markus Ritter: The alleged problem does not exist at all. "There aren't any in Switzerland factory farming", says the President of the Swiss Farmers' Association at every opportunity. Therefore, in his eyes, what is completely unnecessary the so-called factory farming initiative calls for a ban on industrial animal husbandry. Specifically, the originators of the popular initiative want the protection of the dignity of animals in agriculture to be included in the constitution. They want to lower the maximum number of animals per farm and barn, let more animals outdoors and also make slaughtering more animal-friendly. That would mean that the Bio-Suisse guidelines of 2018 would become the standard - also for imported products.
