Everything Everywhere All at Once has won seven more awards – this time at the Independent Spirit Awards.
A week before this year’s Oscars were awarded on the night of March 13th, the Independent Spirit Awards once again underlined the favorite status of the wacky science fiction film “Everything Everywhere All at Once”. The work of directors Dan Kwan (35) and Daniel Scheinert (35), which tops the list with eleven nominations at the Academy Awards, scooped seven out of a possible eight Spirit Awards.
The sci-fi comedy was named best film, and there was also an award in the category “best director”. Unlike other award ceremonies, the Spirit Awards no longer have separate acting categories based on gender. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” leading actress Michelle Yeoh (60) beat the male competition with her triumph in the “Best Performance in a Leading Role” segment.

Actor Ke Huy Quan (51) managed this feat for “Best Performance in a Supporting Role” and snatched the award from his “Everything Everywhere All at Once” colleague Jamie Lee Curtis (64). Meanwhile, Stephanie Hsu (32), who plays the main character’s daughter in the film, was recognized as the biggest newcomer of the year. The other two prizes were for the screenplay and editing.
