Elderly care – tariff payment with flaws – politics

The vast majority of care facilities in Germany apparently pays according to a tariff from Thursday onwards. The Federal Association of General Local Health Insurance Funds (AOK) announced that around 90 percent of all geriatric care facilities had submitted the feedback on tariff compliance required by the government by September 1st. At the end of the deadline on April 30, it was only 78 percent. With the law passed by the grand coalition, the government wanted to make the nursing profession more attractive. In view of the mandatory tariff payment in elderly care, the social association VdK has criticized more and more burdens for those in need of care. “Politicians have failed to counter-finance the collective payment of nursing staff – which we of course welcome – in a reasonable way,” said President Verena Bentele. Many facility providers and providers therefore passed the costs on to those in need of care.
