BAccording to the police, around 200 people took to the streets in Frankfurt on Saturday for the nationwide day of action of the peace movement. The rally in the city center was initially peaceful. “Everything is very manageable today,” said a police spokesman.
The demo train from the Zeil shopping street to the Dreikönigskirche was under the motto “Billions for a social, just and ecological peace policy! disarmament instead of rearmament”. 200 people were also registered for the demonstration. Similar rallies were planned in Berlin, Stuttgart and Hamburg, among others.
Demonstration against Iran

The background is the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in Iran. The moral police had arrested her because of her allegedly “un-Islamic outfit”. What exactly happened to Amini after that is unclear. The woman fell into a coma and died in a hospital on September 16.
Since then, thousands have been demonstrating in the country against the government’s repressive course and the Islamic system. At least 19 people were killed in violent riots in south-east Iran on Friday alone.
