DBB women to the EM – basketball players create a qualification again after twelve years – sport

After twelve years, the German basketball players are returning to the EM stage. In the last qualifier on Sunday evening in Sarajevo, the team coached by national coach Walt Hopkins won 92:61 (44:37) against hosts Bosnia-Herzegovina thanks to a concentrated performance and bought the ticket for the EuroBasket 2023. The last time was a selection by the Germans Basketball Bund (DBB) in Poland in 2011 at a European Championship, after that there were five times out in the qualification. Now the comeback was successful, the final round will take place in Israel and Slovenia in the summer (15th to 25th June). The German team led by top scorer Leonie Fiebich from Spanish club Casademont Saragossa, who was in top form with 30 points, finished second behind Belgium in Group A after four wins from six games. The German team had to put up with the two defeats in the qualification against the group winners.
