Danish Ministry of Defense bans Tiktok on service devices

DThe Danish Ministry of Defense prohibits its employees from using the short video app Tiktok on their work devices. The ministry announced on Monday in Copenhagen that the use of the platform will be prohibited for security reasons, but also because the app is only required to a very limited extent for the work of the employees. Anyone who has Tiktok installed on their work cell phones or other work devices should delete the app as soon as possible.

In doing so, the ministry is following a recommendation from the Danish Center for Cyber ​​Security (CFCS), which recently advised against using Tiktok on service devices owned by state authorities. As the newspaper “Jyllands-Posten” reported last week, the ministries of justice, climate and energy have already banned the app. The short video service from the Chinese ByteDance group was also banned from company cell phones in other Western countries, for example in the USA, Canada and by the Foreign Ministry in Latvia.
