So far, jumps of this magnitude in the hospitalization rate have only been observed when the data were presumably distorted by late registrations.

According to the calculations of the RKI, the hospitalization rate increases in absolute terms on Wednesday from 5.17 to 6.15. This is the highest level since August 6th. A week ago the rate was 3.67. Including expected late registrations, it should be close to 9.

The daily value of 149 new admissions of Covid19 patients causes the seven-day average to rise from 101 to 108. That’s 34 percent more than a week ago. The last time there was such a significant increase was in June.

The number of corona deaths has also increased. The daily value of 138 newly registered deaths causes the seven-day average to jump from 71.0 to 77.9. That is 18.8 percent less than a week ago. However, this could be a first sign of the trend reversal that is unfortunately to be expected.

Meanwhile, however, the number of corona vaccinations is also increasing again. 65,906 were registered on Tuesday, the highest daily figure since mid-May. The seven-day average of vaccinations thus climbs to 36,683. That is around 15 percent more than a week ago. Around 85 percent of all vaccinations are four vaccinations.

However, a comparison with the vaccination numbers from a year ago and even more so with those from the end of 2021 shows that there is still a lot of room for improvement here.
